Something To Grind Towards

Warframe has an enjoyable grind, and real results to work towards.

I started work this morning on my Rhino warframe. In three days, I will have my second warframe and my first non-starter warframe, the first frame that I will have found and sourced on my own.

First, I had to make my way across Earth to the Venus solar rail junction. Once I had met the requirements to face the Specter that guards the junction, I had to defeat it in combat. Then, once I had made it to Venus, I had to go through a series of missions to get to a boss fight with a Corpus quadruped called The Jackal. It took multiple runs through The Jackal to get all three component blueprints for the Rhino.

I purchased the master Rhino blueprint through the marketplace. Now I just needed to construct the components. To do that, I needed to get Plastids and a control module. To get the Plastids, I had to make my way through Mars to Phobos. Once I had gathered enough Plastids, I went from Phobos to The Void to acquire the control module. This gave me the materials to construct the three components for the Rhino Warframe.

To actually construct the Rhino itself, I needed an Orokin Cell in addition to the three components. To get the cell, I made my way to Ceres, where I came across the cell after a little bit of farming. Now I had everything I needed. Last night, I started the foundry working on the three components. This morning when I signed in, I had everything I needed, and started the foundry working on the frame itself.

I’ve maxed out my starter frame, so I’m excited to get a new one to level, but honestly, this just feels like a big accomplishment to me. I learned the system, I found the pieces, and soon I’ll have an in-game reward for all of my efforts. It definitely scratches the “deep play” itch that I’ve been carrying all this time. Warframe has an enjoyable grind, and real results to work towards.

I’ve already got all four prints for my next warframe, after the Rhino — an Oberon. While I’m leveling the Rhino, I can be working on getting the materials for Oberon, and then when I’ve maxed out the Rhino, I’ll have something new to work on. And I imagine I’ll find more prints along the way, and I’ll just keep building my warframe collection. Keep grinding, and keep getting some sweet, sweet loot.
